One of the most common questions I get before or during a brand photoshoot is: "What do I do with my hands?" It can feel awkward at first, but don’t worry — there are lots of ways to make your hands look natural and relaxed in photos.
Here are a few ideas:
- Hands in Pockets: I use this one all the time at my shoots. Whether it's both hands or just one, this adds a casual and confident vibe to your shots.
- One Hand on Waist: Placing one hand on your waist can help define your posture and add a bit of structure to your pose.
- Hold Something: Holding an object, like a coffee cup, phone, or bag, gives your hands something to do and can make the pose feel more authentic.
- Create Movement: Walk or move around during the shoot. This creates natural, dynamic photos and helps your hands fall into a relaxed position.
- Fix Your Hair: Touching or fiddling with your hair subtly can look natural and effortless, adding a candid feel to your photos
- Lean onto something: Whether it’s a wall or a pillar, leaning against a surface can help create a relaxed, natural pose.
- Do Something: This could be things like writing, drawing, or even working on your laptop. It creates an authentic scene where your hands are naturally involved.
- Fidget or Fiddle: If you're someone who fiddles with a ring or picks at your nails, turn it into a pose! Small movements can make your hands look relaxed and in-the-moment.
The key is to keep your hands engaged in a way that feels natural and true to you. By using these tips, you'll add life and personality to your brand photos helping you look relaxed and confident!
