A city with photo opportunities around every corner
A couple of weeks ago I went to Venice with my friend Tina, for a few days of wandering, sight-seeing, eating pasta and gelato and just soaking up some sun. After a bit of a shaky start (Tina's flight got cancelled due to a strike - thankfully she managed to book another flight!) we met at Venice airport and took the best and most scenic way to the city centre - the Alilaguna water bus.
We'd booked a boutique hotel in the Cannaregio area, which turned out to be just perfect - out of the main tourist area, but still within walking distance to all the sights and with a much more relaxed vibe.
We had ciccetti (small tapas style dishes), Aperol spritz, pizza and pasta, and of course gelato. The sun was shining (but not overly hot), and we walked, walked and walked, everywhere. Two of the mornings I got up early, took my camera and wandered around - it was such a different vibe at that time; no people, beautiful light and definitely worth waking up earlier for.
Below are some of my photos from the trip - the sights, details, people. Venice was such a beautiful city, and I'm glad we went this time of the year before it gets too hot and over-crowded!
